What Worked Well

  • Static validation caught a real frontmatter indentation defect before merge.
  • Reviewing the changed prompts exposed a platform rule: built-in ask prompts ignore tools: overrides and must rely on their default capabilities.

What Could Be Improved

  • Add a lightweight automated validation command for agent/prompt frontmatter.
  • Add a documented manual checklist for VS Code UI handoff testing.

Lessons Learned

  • Built-in ask prompts do not honor tools: in frontmatter, so the docs must reflect that platform constraint instead of recommending overrides.
  • Static parser validation is necessary before treating agent frontmatter changes as merge-ready.

Future Work / Follow-ups

  • Run an interactive VS Code workflow pass to validate the guided handoff UX end to end.
  • Consider clarifying the work-folder versus issue-doc source of truth at the Research -> Plan boundary.
